Recently our school co-ordinators were asked the question:
What are the positive effects of Mathletics?·Here are some of their answers:
- Visible improvement in mental recall from pupils who use Mathletics regularly. Easy and
effective assessment. The children do not think they are doing Maths! They look forward to
the sessions where they compete against each-other or pupils from other schools. Pupils can
monitor their own improvement.·
- The children have thoroughly enjoyed Mathletics. It has been so motivational, especially for
the boys, who love the live element. It’s doing wonders for their mental skills.·
- Children are having lots of extra practice in Maths at home and in school and they enjoy the
competitive element. They are keen to improve their score and get better. The website is
easy to use and can be tailored to individual children.·
- Students are very independent and are often competing against each other to change profile
pictures etc. They have found the tutorials useful. The work booklets are helpful to give as
homework tasks.·
- Development of mental arithmetic skills. Enjoyment of using ICT in Maths. The creation of
characters by spending the points they have earned.·
- Excellent focus for the pupils. Children are much more enthusiastic about mental maths work.
- It certainly promotes enjoyment of Maths. It gives me good visual feedback on who is
struggling with a given topic. Basic skills practice (times tables) is always useful.
